A lady caller on Rush said she could understand sending these criminals to Ill. as they were understaffed since they sent so many of their criminals to DC. How true!
Gitmo was a good place for them.............there was no reason to put them on American soil and no reason especially to give them the rites of American justice. We've had this discussion in our local Patriot group. A good point was brought up that Congress never declared war on these terrorists (vs. a country........which brought up the next discussion of defining a country vs. nation as these terrorists certainly fall into the definition of a nation). Because of that, they deserved (hmmm) a civil trial vs a military trial. Good technical point but I still have a major issue with granting radical murderers any rites at all.
Bottom line, with this move, Obama once again proves his immaturity and ignorance of high level governing at the expense of the citizens and Constitution he's sworn to protect.

Terrible decision. This president does not care what the people want, as evidenced with this, as well as with forcing govt run health care on us.

Just one in a string of many uninformed decisions by the current administration which will, once again, put our country in peril. 2012 is not too far off, and we (GOP) must return to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue in January 2013!

Keeping them in Guantamamo Bay helps to maintain their status as enemy combabants. Once they are on U.S. soil, they are entitled to the protections offered under the constitution. The U.S. constitution offers protection to everyone on U.S. soil and not just American citizens. So, it's not only a safety issue if and when they are taken to Illinois, their legal status changes the moment that happens.

When you think of it, Guantanamo Bay was a genius idea that the previous administration developed. Terrorists are criminals but they are not ordinary criminals, they commit crimes against countries and states, as such terrorists must be treated differently.

If you play terrrorism down, it does not make it go away; and if you take them to the U.S soil, the constitution applies and they have to be mirandize and once that happens, no one can get any information. I don't advocate torture, but they don't need to be on U.S. soil if there is a place to house them- and there is one, it's GITMO and it has plenty of sunshine.
